SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST
Bilingual (Spanish)
Duties include, but are not limited to:
¨ Participates with interdisciplinary team members in developing procedures to implement program policies designed to address students in crisis.
¨ Develop procedures that are proactive to foster and promote crisis prevention.
¨ Act as a lead member of the crisis intervention team and assume lead role in crisis situations that arise among students.
¨ Assess social-emotional and academic skill levels for students through testing.
¨ Provide direct counseling to students referred by self, faculty, administration, and other ancillary staff when needed.
¨ Participate in mandated counseling sessions.
¨ Track and follow up on all referrals made in and out of school.
¨ Coordinate referrals and services offered between programs and other agencies in school and in the outside community.
¨ Establish and expand referral networks/connections with outside agencies rendering psychological services for both students and their families
¨ Participate in some presentations to parents, staff, administrators and other stakeholders.
¨ Serve as an advocate for student privacy rights within the school and the outside community.
¨ Serve as a mediator between child, parent, school and community when appropriate.
¨ Attends scheduled clinical meetings.
¨ Conduct testing for students referred to the Child Study Team.
¨ Participate in assessing threat levels during suicidal/homicidal ideations.
¨ Provide relevant staff with SEL Intervention strategies.
¨ Knowledge of CPSE/CSE Process/Act as sub-CSE/CPSE Chairperson.
¨ Perform other related duties as needed.
¨ Attend on-going professional development activities/events.
Minimum Qualifications:
¨ Valid New York State Certification in School Psychology
¨ Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of testing instruments for a vast student population.
¨ Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
¨ Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with students, families, staff, and community stakeholders
¨ Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with professionalism
¨ Ability to speak, read and write in the Spanish Language.
