All Non-Teacher coaches must have all coaching certification updated along with CPR, First Aid and Concussion, register with the NYS TEACH System and

submit all of their coaching paperwork to the Athletic Director before being

considered for a coaching position. If this is not done, Non-Teacher applicants will not be considered for a coaching position.

 

All Certified Teachers interested in coaching must have an up-to-date CPR, First Aid, and Concussion Certification for coaching to be considered for a position. Coaching coursework is required to be complete 5 years after initial coaching start date.

 Duration: 2025-2026 School Year

Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) Teacher

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

Must be a retired United States Army Military.

Noncommissioned Officers must be retired from the Army in the grades of E-6 through E-9.  Officers must be retired from the Army in the grades of W-1 through W-5 or O-3 through O-6.  In addition, applicant must meet the minimum qualifications required by the Department of Defense (usarmyjrotc.com)

Position Summary:

The JROTC Instructor offers JROTC curriculum while upholding the mission, vision and values of the Wyandanch Union Free School District.  Collaborates with families and other staff members to ensure academic success of students. Evaluates and monitors students’ progress on a periodic basis. JROTC Instructors provide education on military life, history and skills to high school students.

Schedule:  10 Month Calendar plus 10 days over the summer

Essential Functions:

Instructs Cadets in the JROTC curriculum during the school year; develops short and long range plans for achieving

curriculum goals, gathers appropriate materials, establishes clear objectives for lessons, and formulates appropriate lesson plans; Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and the personal growth of students; Evaluates student

progress and counsel cadets on their performance within the JROTC program; Motivates and encourages student to

develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a foundation for becoming a responsible citizen; Monitors

student movement to ensure a safe and orderly environment. JROTC instructors will maintain a robust community service program for JROTC students. Organizes, supervises, and participates in extracurricular activities for JROTC cadets to include color guard, drill teams and other special activities. Maintains JROTC student records as required by the

Department of Army regulations and local policies. Complies with Army and school district safety guidelines when

instructing and supervising. Maintains supply accountability in strict compliance with Army security regulations. Employs a variety of  instructional techniques and media. Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities. Attends staff

development programs, department meetings and other professional activities; Sets an example and models positive attitudes, knowledge, and skills for cadets. Maintains a working knowledge of new instructional methods, technology and equipment. Performs other duties as assigned by a supervisor. Additional duties may include: monitoring hallways or the lunchroom.
